Inside Out Leadership
The pathway to resilient leadership
‘Inside Out’ is a programme for CEOs and senior leaders who are passionate about their work and dedicated to their staff and stakeholders and who want to build their resilience to sustain themselves and their organisations in these complex times.
Astrid Korin and Maggie Farrar, founders of Inside Out, have worked together on organisation and leadership development for many years. At the same time we have been cultivating our own personal practice toward greater leadership presence and resilience. We have seen the impact of these practices in our own lives and in the lives of the many leaders we have worked with over the years. Now, we want to share this with you through the ‘Inside Out’ programme.

Programme Overview
Leaders are often taught to focus on external competencies - communication, strategy, execution. But the quality of leadership is largely driven by their inner world: how they relate to themselves, how they manage reactivity, how they navigate emotion, and how they stay anchored (and well) in times of uncertainty.
Inside Out Leadership is an invitation to lead with awareness and presence so that we can be responsive, not reactive to the world around us. We build our awareness and our presence through the practice of the 5Cs - Curious, Calm, Clear, Courageous, and Compassionate - which create the conditions for sustainable leadership that enhances rather than erodes our resilience.
This programme helps leaders:
Cultivate greater self awareness of their inner and outer world
Deepen their presence, being here for the moments that really matter
So they are able to respond wisely to their daily experience of leading.
At the heart of the programme is the belief that the quality of our leadership is shaped by the quality of our internal state.
Each C represents a core quality - not a fixed trait, but a capacity that can be developed through practice. This framing is supported by recent research on strengths-based leadership, which emphasises the dynamic and developmental nature of personal capacities in leadership effectiveness.
The purpose of developing greater self awareness, presence and responsiveness is so that leaders may:
Harness the best of who they are while addressing what gets in their way
Navigate challenge with resourcefulness and reflection
Model the mindset and behaviours that shape thriving cultures
The goal is not to become perfect in all five, but to continuously cultivate capacity in each to remain grounded, agile, and human - especially when it matters most.
The programme will introduce you to the following:
Key concepts from the field of psychology that are commonly used in coaching to help leaders understand themselves and their staff better. This will include understanding common states of mind, communication patterns and the stories we create and tell ourselves that erode our self-worth and hinder our performance.
Tools, frameworks and practices that will help you to cultivate resilient leadership. This will include understanding your habits of mind, adjusting how you respond to challenges, cultivating healthy relationships and communicating with passion and purpose.
Practices that cultivate protective awareness in leaders and help you to reduce stress and burnout for yourselves and for others in your organisation. This will include how the practice of compassion and kindness can be a powerful motivating force, allowing you to be ‘kind to people’, including yourself, ‘whilst being tough on issues’.
You will be guided by two of our wonderful facilitators, who draw on their extensive experience, which they developed through their own leadership journeys and through the work they are now doing with leaders and their teams in the UK and globally.

On completion of the programme, participants were better able to:
Our findings also show that:
Participants became more curious and open-minded when under pressure and they noted a clear shift in how they respond to challenges at work:
“I tend to try and fix it, but I am now trying to stop and pause before responding which means I don’t agree to solve everyone’s problems.”
“[I deal with challenge in a] more systematic way - power of the pause - I balance between the balcony and dance floor - being present and visible when/as much as possible.”
“Sometimes (I) jump to worst case scenario but I am dealing with this now.”
“I now make sure that I take time to stop and think, step back and try to see the wider picture. Listen to what people are and aren’t saying - [I ask myself] who is the situation actually a challenge for?”
